Being energy efficient is not as hard as you think.  Changing some simple everyday actions and habits can help you cut the energy wasting and help create a more comfortable and healthy home to live in.

Going a few steps further with insulation and choosing energy efficient heat sources and appliances will give you an even more energy efficient home - saving you money in the long run.

Energy Saving TipsCompact Flourescent Lamp CPL

  • Close your curtains before it cools down outside, trapping the heat inside.
  • Block draughts under doors, fire places etc.
  • Use energy efficient lighting like Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) are the most well-known type of energy saving light bulb and they are very efficient.  Good quality compact flourescent bulbs (CFL) can use 80% less power and last up to six or more times longer than a standard lamp.
  • Get your home properly insulated - good insulation is one of the most important steps to a healthy, comfortable and energy efficient home.
  • Get an energy efficient heat source installed like a heat pump - supplied and installed by a reputable dealer.  Heat pumps must be sized and installed correctly to deliver the energy efficiency they are capable of.
  • If your shower fills up a 10 litre bucket in less than a minute, invest in a energy efficient shower head or purchase a flow restrictor for a few dollars from your local plumbing supplier.
  • Consider a ventilation system.  Drier homes are warmer, easier to heat and much healthier.
  • Turn on your computers power saving functions.
  • Call us to see if you are eligible for subsidies with EECA for insulation and an energy efficient heat source.
